Electric Vehicle Grant Advice

Unlock Funding for Your EV Charging Infrastructure

The UK Government offers a range of grant schemes to support the transition to electric vehicles by reducing the cost of installing EV charging infrastructure.

These grants are designed to help businesses, property owners, and public-sector organisations deploy chargepoints across workplaces, depots, residential developments and public car parks.

3ti’s Papilio3 Smart Solar EV Charging FastHub is designed to comply with UK regulatory requirements and is fully eligible under several of these grant schemes.

Workplace Charging Scheme

The Workplace Charging Scheme supports UK businesses, charities and public-sector organisations to install EV chargepoints at their premises.

  • Covers up to 75% of the total cost of purchase + installation of eligible charge-points.
  • Maximum support is £350 per socket, up to 40 sockets per applicant across all sites.
  • The installation must be carried out by an authorised installer and meet the specified technical criteria.
Because the Papilio3 solution includes OZEV-compliant charge points and is installation-ready for integration, it qualifies under WCS as a suitable workplace charging asset.

EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets

The EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets is targeted at SMEs (and other organisations) installing multiple chargepoints and enabling infrastructure (cabling, feeder circuits, parking-space preparation).

  • Up to 75% of costs eligible (including infrastructure work) in many cases.
  • Typical caps: £15,000 per site, or up to £500 per parking space enabled, depending on scheme rules.
  • Designed to facilitate fleet electrification or larger-scale charging deployment.
The modular Papilio3 system – ready for rapid deployment and future scaling – aligns well with this scheme’s objectives.

Depot Charging Scheme

The Depot Charging Scheme is specifically aimed at the installation of charging infrastructure at fleet depots, for both public and private sector fleets.

  • Funding covers 75% of charge-point and civil works costs, up to a maximum of £1 million across all sites for an applicant.
  • There is no cap on the number of sites an organisation can apply for (under current guidance) but the scheme is limited to one application per organisation.
  • Open to fleets, local authorities, non-profit organisations across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
For organisations deploying Papilio3 at one or multiple depot sites, this scheme provides a substantial funding opportunity for large-scale charging hubs.

Landlord & Property Owner Grants

Property owners, landlords and managing agents may access support through dedicated schemes:

EV Chargepoint Grant for Landlords:

  • Up to £350 per socket for installing individual charge-points at rented residential or commercial properties.
  • Dedicated off-street or allocated parking required.

EV Infrastructure Grant for Residential Car Parks

  • Grants supporting wider electrical/infrastructure enabling works for multi-occupancy sites, up to £30,000 per building in many cases.
  • Papilio3 can complement such installations by serving as a central charging hub in a residential or mixed-use parking environment.

Public-Sector & Local Authority Funding

Various specialised schemes support local authorities, educational trusts, health trusts and other public bodies to deploy EV charging networks:

  • Such schemes include the On Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS) – for residential on-street or communal chargers.
  • Also the Local EV Infrastructure Fund (LEVI) – for larger scale public charging infrastructure roll-out.
Papilio3’s rapid-deployment and modular architecture make it a strong fit for public-sector projects requiring minimal disruption and renewable-enabled charging solutions.
