Network Rail
Fleet charging. Delivered at pace. Network Rail needed to support the decarbonisation of its road fleet at its Basingstoke Campus, with EV charging infrastructure that could be deployed quickly and with minimal disruption to a busy operational site.
Challenge. Solution. Outcome.
Challenge
Decarbonise without disruption.
Network Rail is working to reduce emissions across its operations, including the transition of its road fleet to electric vehicles. At its Basingstoke Campus, that meant introducing reliable EV charging infrastructure for fleet vehicles and visiting staff within an already busy operational environment.
The solution needed to be delivered with minimal disruption to the site and provide dependable charging from day one. Just as importantly, the Basingstoke installation offered an opportunity to demonstrate an approach that could potentially be replicated across other locations as Network Rail continues to electrify its fleet.

Solution
Up and charging in under 24 hours.
HALO FastHub provided Network Rail with a different approach to conventional EV charging infrastructure. Rather than treating the project as a lengthy construction programme, the charging hub was manufactured and prepared off site before being delivered to the Basingstoke Campus ready for installation.
The 12-charge-point HALO FastHub was installed in under 24 hours, bringing together smart EV charging and integrated solar generation in one solution.
With the majority of the work completed before HALO arrived on site, installation could be carried out quickly and with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations. The result was a ready-to-use charging hub designed around the needs of an active workplace and fleet environment.

Outcome
A blueprint for what comes next.
The Basingstoke installation became the first HALO FastHub on the Network Rail estate, providing convenient on-site charging for fleet vehicles and visiting staff.
But its significance goes beyond a single location.
The project demonstrates how EV charging infrastructure can be deployed quickly within an operational estate without turning installation into a major infrastructure programme.
For Network Rail, Basingstoke provides a practical proof of concept for an approach that could support wider fleet electrification across its estate: repeatable, scalable and designed to minimise disruption at each location.

Decarbonising our road fleet is a critical part of our wider sustainability strategy, and infrastructure like HALO FastHub enables us to make tangible progress at pace. This deployment in Basingstoke is a blueprint for how we can support our teams on the ground with the tools they need to operate cleaner, greener vehicles every day.
