As part of its wider plans for the regeneration of Uttoxeter, East Staffordshire Borough Council wanted to make sustainable transport more accessible for residents and visitors.

The Maltings offered an opportunity to introduce EV charging in a central location where people were already parking while visiting the town.
The council needed a solution that would provide a practical public service today while also supporting its longer-term ambitions for a greener, more attractive and sustainable town centre.

HALO FastHub was installed at The Maltings, bringing public EV charging and integrated solar generation together in one highly visible town-centre location.
Positioning charging where people are already spending time means drivers can top up their vehicle while shopping, visiting local businesses or spending time in Uttoxeter.

The solar canopy generates renewable electricity directly on site, while the hub itself provides a visible demonstration of the council’s investment in lower-carbon infrastructure.

HALO FastHub is now providing convenient public EV charging in the heart of Uttoxeter, supporting residents and visitors as more drivers make the switch to electric.

The installation has also become part of the wider town-centre environment, combining practical charging infrastructure with on-site renewable energy generation.
For East Staffordshire Borough Council, the project demonstrates how investment in EV charging can do more than serve electric vehicles. It can support a more sustainable visitor experience and contribute to the wider ambitions of a changing town centre
