In the fast-moving worlds of renewable energy, battery storage and electric vehicle (EV) charging, milestones are not just markers of time but symbols of progress, innovation and commitment. As 3ti® marks its fifth anniversary, we are proud to have grown to be at the forefront of the transport and energy revolutions, leading the UK’s drive towards Net Zero by generating low carbon electricity and delivering best in class electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Since our inception in 2019, 3ti has become synonymous with groundbreaking achievements in the renewable energy sector. As a testament to our success, we have already generated over eight gigawatt-hours of solar power, saving our customers over £2 million in reduced energy costs. The environmental impact is equally impressive, creating enough electricity to power 2,526 households for one year and saving 1,500 tonnes of carbon, the equivalent of planting 32,123 trees.
To date, the company has installed multiple solar car parks (SCP) and integrated EV charge points across the UK for a range of applications. Examples include Silverstone, Eastbourne District General Hospital, Bristol Airport, the Ministry of Defence and Bentley Motors, to name just a few. As a certified B Corp, we are committed to improvements for people and the planet, and recently debuted Europe’s first low-carbon, wooden-framed large-scale solar car park at Five Rivers Health & Wellbeing Centre in Wiltshire. This project not only showcases 3ti’s commitment to innovation but also its dedication to sustainable construction materials; we constantly strive to go the extra mile when it comes to sustainability to ensure that we ‘Leave Something Better Behind®’ for future generations.
May 2022 marked the debut of Papilio3®, our innovative multi-award winning pop-up, mini solar car park. We have installed units across the UK and are currently on the cusp of setting a new record of installing four units in one month, each of which will significantly contribute to the uptake in electric vehicle ownership and usage. In just a short space of time, Papilio3 has set the standard for destination and workplace EV charging, while addressing the growing demand for accessible and convenient charging in areas with medium-long dwell times.
Collectively, our SCPs and Papilio3 installations have delivered over 11,000 electric vehicle charges in the UK, from Salisbury to Crewe to Inverness.
Our commitment to innovation is underscored by six industry innovation awards and multiple UK and global patents. 3ti has witnessed exponential growth, evolving from a small startup of just four employees to a growing team of 30 dedicated professionals. The company’s success story is a testament to its ability to navigate the intricate landscapes of renewable energy, battery storage and EV charging and make a lasting impact.
As we celebrate our fifth anniversary, we feel like we’re just getting started. The company, working with other industry leaders, is leading a pioneering £2 million ‘V2X Fast Hub‘ project (funded with £1.3 million by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, delivered by Innovate UK). This ambitious venture aims to integrate bi-directional DC charging and associated power management systems using our award winning Papilio3, mini solar car park and EV charging hub.

We are steadfast in our mission to get businesses and vehicles ‘Driving on Sunshine®’ by deploying large-scale solar arrays in car parks, on waste land and rooftops whilst also growing an extensive, reliable EV charging network with our easy to install, multi-award winning pop-up, mini solar car park, Papilio3.
